The Radio Pioneer Who Unleashed Rock 'n' Roll on the Airwaves and Ignited a Revolution!

April 10, 2007 - Albuquerque, NM

Born in Buffalo on William st. over Kern’s Bar, in 38. My uncle was a dancer who let me in the side door to the Zanzibar to watch and hear the hounddog broadcast, and singers like Little Richard and others perform, because at that time we lived at 73 Monroe St. a block away from the corner of William and Monroe St. We also would go to Ben’s pawnshop to see him and buy records played on his radio show. My dad Lonnie worked at Carl’s garage near the Peacebridge and serviced the hound’s car.

I still follow the type music he played between him and the station in Galatin TN. they were the only music I knew growing up. There are DG’s out here that knew him personally also. Keep his legasy going.
