The Radio Pioneer Who Unleashed Rock 'n' Roll on the Airwaves and Ignited a Revolution!

Even ten years late, it was good to find this website. The Hound was responsible for my musical taste, still after sixty years: R&B to electric blues — Muddy Waters, Little Walter, John Lee Hooker — to ‘Blind Ray Charles’ -(Who now remembers the other Ray Charles Singers on the Perry Como show?) and on to jazz.
I spent several years in Europe, where I had to correct the British claim to have preserved the blues after the USA ‘abandoned’ them. Mentioned The Hound every chance I got. And yes, I grew up in East York, now Toronto, and listened on WKBW. I’ve never even been to Buffalo, let alone the Zanzibar or Rockin’ Doc Abrams. Many adventures trying to find the records in Toronto.
Nobody has mentioned Party Doll. I remember The Hound playing Party Doll over and over, but by Steve Lawrence — STEVE LAWRENCE! — not Buddy Knox and the Rhythm Orchids which was much more to his taste. Must have been April Fools day
