As a teenager in Stoney Creek Ontario in the mid 50s, my friends and I listened religiously to The Hound on WKBW. And I was hooked on early rock and roll. The Penguins’ Earth Angel was a prime example of the music. My dad thought we were nuts as the signal came in sometimes poorly on our old stand up radio with the 10 inch speaker. My love of that music led me to a Saturday job at Anne Foster Music in Hamilton [well, I was a school chum of the owner’s daughter] where I sort of helped out with the pop music ordering – 78s were still the medium and I enjoyed keeping up with the tunes like Jim Dandy and the Annie songs.
