When I was a kid living in Toronto I remember the day I accidentally tuned in to WKBW and heard George say “The Hound’s Around” over that incredible theme “The Big Heavy”.
I had finally found music that had soul and feeling unlike any of the white versions of rock and roll songs. It was ear opening and mind blowing to hear the original versions of tunes by Ruth Brown, the Drifters, Fats Domino, Little Richard, The Penguins etc.
As a white kid, I finally discovered the black roots of RnB and Rock and Roll.
George introduced me to a wealth of what I call “real” music and eventually I became a jazz fan.
Thank you George Lorenz for leading me into a wealth of music.
